William Decker

M
The names of William and Hannah Barber Decker as parents of William, Aaron and Samuel are found only on Aaron's death certificate. No households in the Wayne, Seneca or Cayuga 1840 censuses have a William as the head who has children the correct age to be Aaron and Samuel, but several possiblilities exist. They are: John Decker: Males: 2 <5 2 5-10 1 30-40 Females: 1 10-15 1 30-40 This household looks the most promising for containing ancestors of Aaron and Samuel. Perhaps the John listed as head of household could be the parent and the death certificate has erroneous information, or perhaps he is an uncle. A marriage record exists for John Decker to Hannah Lake in 1827 at the Dutch Reformed Church. No marriage record for a William is found, and the two boys in this household are very young, and match the ages of Aaron and Samuel. Sam was living with Anna Lake in 1850, so there is another connection to this couple. On either side of John Decker lives a Jacob Leak, sic., and an Aaron Hopkins. On the same page are Sally Hopkins. Also on the same page is: Isaac Decker: Males: 1 <5 1 5-10 1 10-15 Females: 1 30-40. William Decker married Hannah Barber. William Decker appeared on the census of 1 June 1840 at Galen, Wayne, New York, USA.1 He appeared on the census of 6 September 1850 at Household 1308-1399, Town of Junius, Seneca, New York, USA.2,3 He appeared on the census of 5 October 1850 at Household 174-174, Galen, Wayne, New York, USA.4,5
