He was born in Port Byron and had been a farmer and cattle dealer for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Mentz Grange in Port Byron and the Auburn Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Leonard P. (Mary Alice) Hackney of North Rose; three grandchildren, Mrs. William (Judith) Ehrbar of Northport, John L. Hackney of Skaneateles and Sgt. Stephen A. Hackney, USAF stationed in Japan; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Theodora Myers of Syracuse and Mrs. William Washburn of Geneva. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mosher Funeral Home, 93 E. Genesee St. Rev. Ernest Butterfield will officiate. Burial will be made in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Port Byron.
