Wife of Daniel H. LaDue.
A tribute to Nancy LaDue from her grandchildren:
---Savannah, NY Times Newspaper---
~~Death of Mrs. Nancy LaDue~~
Mrs. Nancy LaDue departed this life, Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 4, 1908 at 2:20 p.m. She leaves besides one brother, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and ten grandchildren. For four weeks, the loved ones remained at her side, expecting the end of time. Everything was done that willing hands and feet could do to ease her last moments. She loved to do for each one of us and was a mother and grandmother to us all.
One more chair is vacant, one more person is gone. God has come and taken grandma to her home.
We shall all miss her in our earthly homes, but she has gained where we have lost, so we cannot repine.
Our loving hands have done the work of laying her dear body out. Our tears, our sighs, our grief, our cries, come from our broken hearts.
For twenty years she suffered here, such pain and agony. She called on God to bless us all, and keep us from all harm.
She reached the land where Ida(her dau.) went, and where she wanted to go. And now we say with tear-dimmed eyes, Dear Lord, please come take us too.

No one saw the accident, and it is mere conjecture just how he met his death. His neck was broken, three ribs fractured and there were contusions about the head and face. Dr. Sweeting of Savannah decided after an examination of the-body, that death was instanteous. Mr. Ladue was born in the town of Cato, Cayuga couuty, July 26th, 1852, and had completed his 55th year. He was a quiet and orderly citizen, aud had been a resident of Savannah for several years. A wife, an aged mother, and five sons survive him.

Of His Family
Walter J. Hawthorne of Portland, Ore., writes to this newspaper for help in locating records of his father's birth in Montezuma.
The date was about 1878, and the parents were James H. and Adelaide Jones Hawthorne. My father (Walter J. Hawthorne) died in Auburn in 1922, Mr. Hawthorne writes, and is buried in Soule cemetery, but we are unable to find any information on his birth. We are informed by the town clerk of Montezuma that the records were destroyed by fire before 1882. Mr. Hawthorne mentions the names of John LaDue and Jonas Hatfield who once lived in Montezuma, and wonders if their descendents might know something about his own antecedents. Mr. Hawthorne says his family moved from Auburn to Portland in 1923. He also mentions the family of Arthur Beavers, formerly of 7 Gibson Sq., Auburn, as being apossible source of information. - [S511] Unknown author, 1892 New York, State Census, Url: Ancestry.com, Name:James Hawthorne
