For 50 years they owned the O’Connor Farm on McDonald Road. Virginia had also retired from TRW, Union Springs. She was dedicated to her family and church, and for many years enjoyed making a set of rosary beads for every member of the First Communion Class at Holy Family.
Surviving are her husband James E. O'Connor; their children, Terrance J. (Loretta) O'Connor, of Port Byron, John R. (Valerie) O'Connor, of Cato, Karen (Steve) Peterson, of Pine Island, Florida, Bridget O'Connor-Yarman (Hank), of North Syracuse; Brian O'Connor, of Wrentham, Massachusetts; Brendan (Diana) O'Connor, USAF, of Hargate, England; daughter-in-law Laura O'Connor, of Cayuga; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings Philip Cheesman, of Tucson, Arizona; Douglas (Leona) Cheesman, of East Syracuse; Joan (Nick) DeMarzio, of Middlesex, N.Y.; Sally Santangelo, of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son Patrick, and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Holy Family Church, Auburn. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. He was proud of his Irish heritage, a passionate volunteer for the maintenance of the State Street Cemetery. Most of all he loved his family, and all gatherings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Holy Family Church, Auburn NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A lifelong resident of the area, she was the daughter of Harvey and Lois Merritt Cheesman and a graduate of Union Springs High School. She married James E. O'Connor on June 12, 1954 in Holy Family Church, Auburn.
For 50 years they owned the O’Connor Farm on McDonald Road. Virginia had also retired from TRW, Union Springs. She was dedicated to her family and church, and for many years enjoyed making a set of rosary beads for every member of the First Communion Class at Holy Family.
Surviving are her husband James E. O'Connor; their children, Terrance J. (Loretta) O'Connor, of Port Byron, John R. (Valerie) O'Connor, of Cato, Karen (Steve) Peterson, of Pine Island, Florida, Bridget O'Connor-Yarman (Hank), of North Syracuse; Brian O'Connor, of Wrentham, Massachusetts; Brendan (Diana) O'Connor, USAF, of Hargate, England; daughter-in-law Laura O'Connor, of Cayuga; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; siblings Philip Cheesman, of Tucson, Arizona; Douglas (Leona) Cheesman, of East Syracuse; Joan (Nick) DeMarzio, of Middlesex, N.Y.; Sally Santangelo, of Liverpool; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son Patrick, and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Holy Family Church, Auburn. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell's Funeral Service, 84 South St., Auburn.
