Charles Schoonmaker was also known as Charaky Schoonmaker.² According to the 1855 census, Jane was married only once. Five ofher children are found in Mentz, and therefore included here. Effort was made to connect the Schoonmake family, residing in Brutus, but and AI and undocumented trees have indicated that the common ancestor to both of these lines went back to the immigrant from Germany in 1864, so the only lines included in this Mentz project are Charles and Jane Schoonmaker. Charles Schoonmaker was also known as Tjerck E Schonmaker.³ Charles Schoonmaker was also known as Shadrach Schoonmaker.⁴ He was born circa 1783 at Ulster, New York, USA
